The municipality of Ivančna Gorica was successful regarding the call in the ADRION INTERREG programme, as being one of the partners in the EMOUNDERGROUNDS project (Emotional technologies for the cultural heritage valorisation within cross-border undergrounds – Emotional technology for valorisation of cultural heritage within the cross-border area).
The Essence of the Project
The essence of the EMOUNDERGROUNDS project, which is part of the ADRION INTERREG program and is co-financed by the European Union, is the digitisation of Podsmreka Castle. It has a very rich history and is the place where the Carniolan honey bee, a world-famous species of the honey bee, was first bred.
Primož Jeralič, associate of the Municipality of Ivančna Gorica and the head of the project, said: “our task is to successfully coordinate the work of our various business partners.” He also emphasized the importance of European projects that provide all participating partners with a fast, effective and efficient exchange of experience and examples of good practice.
Challenges for our Partners
“We are involved in the technical aspect of the EMOUNDERGROUNDS project,” said Primož Klun, director of Izstop d.o.o. “The project is interesting and extensive. The challenge for us is collecting information that is difficult to obtain. We will also participate in 3D modelling of objects and making 360° images of reality, within which we will implement information points that will exhibit the castle in its different periods of development.”

“I prepared the contents for the presentation of Podsmreka Castle in digital technology,” explained Tjaša Zidarič, who added chronological history records, stories about the owners of the castle and architectural features of the building. Other information that will also be included in digital animation is an inventory of objects in the castle and pictorial material.
Sustainable, smart and inclusive development
The EMOUNDERGROUNDS project includes municipalities from the countries of Italy (the municipality of Nardo, where the project holder comes from), Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The realization of the EMOUNDERGROUNDS project will contribute to the development of the ADRION area (Adriatic – Ionian Sea), its wealth and potentially targeted cultural assets, which would enable sustainable, smart and inclusive development of the entire ADRION area.
